Systemic Work in Mediation
In dealing with conflicts as a Mediator, the main goal is to resolve the conflict for both parties in the
most optimal way. Most of the time this works out fine. There are times, however, when you just
can’t seem to get a handle on it. You believe you have resolved the situation, just to see the conflict
flare up again. Apparently there is more to it than meets the eye.
In her book “Unraveling Dynamics in Mediation“, Mayke Smit reveals the undercurrent that affects the
interaction between people in relationships and conflicts. She introduces the basic principles of
Systemic work, indicates how systemic patterns operate and invites you to see things from a
systemic perspective in order to achieve sustainable solutions.
Smit distinguishes three levels of dynamics that are of significance in mediation:
• The family dynamics on an individual level
• The dynamics between clients
• The dynamics between clients and Mediator
In the free online Mediation MasterMind Meeting next thursday, the 8th of October, at 8.00 pm (CEST)/7.00 pm UK time we take a look at the three levels and we place the interventions within the Evolution System.

I would like to attend
I’m looking forward to Mayke Smit at the Mediation Table.
I will try to attend this call. I am in an arbitration all day on October 8 and may be able to attend based on the schedule.
Will a recording be available in case I cannot participate?
Alas, there will be no recording, due the confidential setting!
